Aline Pouille

Aline Pouille obtained her Master's degree in Educational Sciences at Ghent University in 2017. She completed her studies with a master's thesis that, through personal narratives, highlighted the role of a creative work place in psychological recovery. After an additional teacher training program, she began her PhD in 2018 under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Wouter Vanderplasschen and the late Prof. Dr. Freya Vander Laenen. In 2023, she earned the title of Doctor in Educational Sciences based on her dissertation titled 'Recovery from problem substance among persons with a migration background and ethnic minorities: an analysis of lived experiences'.  This work addresses, among other things, recovery capital, multiple stigma, and culturally sensitive care. As a postdoctoral researcher, her research focuses on the intersections of experiences related to recovery, addiction, and interactions with the justice system (detention or internment), with special attention to minority groups and people in vulnerable situations, primarily through participatory and qualitative research methods.
