Heleen Van hove
Heleen Van Hove obtained her Master's degree in Educational Sciences – specialization in Orthopedagogy and Disability Studies at Ghent University in 2023. She completed her studies with a master's thesis on effective factors in continuity of care within the child and youth psychiatric landscape in East Flanders. Her thesis was conducted in close collaboration with RADAR, the East Flanders network organization for mental health care for children and adolescents.
Since October 1, 2023, Heleen has been working as a researcher in the Department of Orthopedagogy. As part of a project by the Flemish Support Center for Welfare, Public Health, and Family, she is researching the care trajectories of children and adolescents with emotional and behavioral disorders. This research focuses on the support and pathways within youth care, with particular attention to the effective factors and experiences regarding the provided care.
The research project will continue until March 2025 and is supervised by Prof. Dr. Stijn Vandevelde, Prof. Dr. Wouter Vanderplasschen, Prof. Dr. Jan Naert (Department of Orthopedagogy), and Dr. Franky D’Oosterlinck (OC De Nieuwe Vaart).
In her research, Heleen aims to prioritize continuity of care and has a specific interest in children and adolescents with severe emotional and behavioral problems, who are at the intersection of different sectors within youth care.
