Olivier Colins
From January 2019, Olivier F. Colins is employed again at the Department Special Needs Education as postdoctoral researcher (FWO Odysseus Program, type II) and professor (since 1/9/2020). After his studies Social Work and Special Needs Education, and after his PhD.-study he was employed at the Leiden University Medical Center (The Netherlands, 2008-2018) as a senior researcher and professor (assistant) where he performed basic and applied research with criminal justice-involved youth His research predominantly focuses on forensic screening and assessment of mental health problems and deviant personality traits; the identification of clinically and theoretically meaningful subgroups of juveniles with severe conduct problems; risk and protective factors of conduct problems and criminal recidivism; and the etiology, development, and consequences of conduct problems and delinquency.
In two ongoing FWO funded research projects (Odysseus: 2019-2023; Junior Project: 2021-2025) he investigates if 16-to 17-year old boys and girls who (allegedly) committed crimes differ from each other and from healthy controls in clinically and theoretically relevant ways.
