Biography

Changyan Li holds a master’s degree in Communication Sciences (persuasive track) at the University of Amsterdam. Her master thesis was about social media influencer marketing with a focus on consumers’ responses to sponsorship disclosure. Following her studies, she worked as a research assistant at the City University of Hong Kong for ten months.

Supported by a CSC scholarship, she started to work as a Ph.D. researcher at the Center for Persuasive Communication of Ghent University since October 2023. In her research, she focuses on the dark sides of influencer marketing and the corresponding consumer empowerment mostly in the Chinese context.
