CIMS at Film Fest Gent 2024
(09-10-2024) Similar to previous years, several members and former colleagues from CIMS will participate in Film Fest Gent. This year, there is a range of activities that showcase this mutual dedication to foster conversations within the film community.
Research and Lectures
In the run-up to the festival, former CIMS member Lies Van de Vijver presented a lecture on Cinema Rex (08.09.), examining the venue’s historical and cultural significance in Ghent’s cinema landscape. Her talk will highlight the relationship between the building, its film programming, and audience memories.
The findings of a research project on film exhibition in Flanders, which Prof. Daniel Biltereyst was involved in, will be presented during Industry Day (11.10). The study explores the conditions necessary for creating a sustainable ecosystem for film exhibition in Flanders and Brussels. Following the presentation, professionals from the field will discuss the policy recommendations emerging from the research.
