Film & Cinema
This strongly developed research track covers both historical and contemporary aspects of film and cinema, mainly in three directions:
- Film: this side-track looks into issues of representation and ideology in/through films, styles, genres;
- Cinema: cultural, political and societal issues in/around cinema as an institution, more in particular work on film production, adaptation, remakes and policy; film distribution, exhibition, festivals; audiences and reception; controversy, moral panic, public debate and censorship;
- Theory and method: CIMS members in this side-track are also engaged in more theoretical and methodological work on fiction and imagination; digitization and new approaches to film/cinema historiography.
