CIMS is involved as a partner in the Flemish policy research center 'Steunpunt Media' (2012-2015), together with the Center for Journalism Studies (UGent) and MICT (UGent), in a consortium of different Flemish universities (KULeuven, VUB, UGent, UA). CIMS conducts research on alternative news providers in a context of foreign and international news.
