Atalya De Cock obtained a Master’s degree in Theatre and Film Studies at the University of Antwerp in 2022. For her master thesis she explored the evolution of exploitationfilm tropes in mainstream Flemish cinema between the 1960s and the late 1980s. After her studies, she joined CIMS in 2022 as a PhD student. Her research project investigates the ‘recycle film culture’ in small Western European film industries, which concerns types of filmmaking such as remakes, sequels and spin-offs. The research is conducted under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Eduard Cuelenaere, Prof. Dr. Stijn Joye and Prof. Dr. Gertjan Willems.
