Martijn Huisman acquired a Bachelor degree in History and a Master degree in Media & Journalism (Media, Culture & Society) at the Erasmus University in Rotterdam, The Netherlands. He also studied at Leiden University and Keio University in Tokyo, Japan, for extended periods of time, among others focusing on Japanese cinema. After graduating in 2011, Martijn worked for five years as a qualitative consultant for InSites Consulting, an innovative and leading market research agency with its origins in Ghent. In 2017, Martijn returned to the academic world as a PhD researcher under the supervision of Daniël Biltereyst and Stijn Joye within the Center for Cinema and Media Studies and the Health, Media & Society research centre. Specialized in the fields of Health, Media & Communication and skilled in patient and consumer research, Martijn works on an audience research project around health-related information behaviour of young and senior elderly.
