Glen Joris is a former researcher of the research group Center for Journalism Studies and is an affiliate member of the research group for Media, Innovation and Communication Technologies (imec-mict-UGent). He graduated in 2014 as a bachelor in Communication Management (Artesis-Plantijn Hogeschool) and continued his education at the University of Antwerp. In 2016, he received his master's degree in Communication Sciences. In his thesis, he investigated why Flemish adolescents and young adults used so-called ad blockers to avoid online advertising. Five years later, in 2021, Glen earned his doctoral degree based on his research on news diversity, recommendation systems and the development of a public-service news algorithm.
