Emma Verhoeven is a postdoctoral researcher in the research group Center for Journalism Studies (CJS). She obtained her PhD at the University of Antwerp in 2024, where she analyzed how journalists covered LGBTI topics through content analyses and interview studies. She is currently researching the impact of AI on employment in journalism, and journalistic deontology and media councils in Europe.
Since 2022, she has been an editor for Tijdschrift voor Genderstudies. She is one of the organizers of the LGBTQ+ Forum, a Flemish network of researchers, civil society actors, and policymakers working on sexual and gender diversity.
