Sjorre Couvreur
Sjorre Couvreur is a PhD researcher at the Ghent Institute for International & European Studies (GIES) of Ghent University, with a scholarship from the Research Foundation - Flanders (FWO).
He holds a Master in EU International Relations and Diplomacy Studies from the College of Europe with the distinction ‘Very Good’ and a Master in International Politics from Ghent University with the highest distinction. At Ghent University, he received the Marthe Versichelen award for the best Master thesis in political science. Before starting his PhD, he worked at the European External Action Service (EEAS) in Brussels. His PhD research focuses on the geoeconomic turn in EU trade policy.
Specific topics of interest are EU trade policy, geoeconomics, economic security, EU-China and transatlantic relations.
