Lena De Bonte
Status: Phd researcher
Lena holds a Master's in Criminological Sciences (2021) and Sociology (2023) from Ghent University. Focused on opioid use and stigma, her criminology thesis delved into intra-group stigma among clients of opiate substitution treatments. In sociology, she explored pharmacists' and general practitioners' discourse on these clients.
In October 2023, Lena started as a joint PhD student at Ghent University under supervision of Prof. Dr. Liesbet Goubert (department of Experimental-Clinical and Health Psychology) and Dr. Melissa Ceuterick. In her doctoral research, mixed methods will be applied to attain insight into public and provider opioid-related stigma from an interdisciplinary perspective.
