Jarne De Geyter
Jarne De Geyter (16 June 1999, Zottegem) has been a doctoral researcher and FWO fellow at the Ghent European Law Institute since 2022. His research focuses on judicial protection within the external relations of the European Union, with a specific focus on cooperation between the EU and the EFTA countries Norway, Iceland and Liechtenstein, within the framework of the EEA Agreement.
Jarne obtained both his degrees ‘Bachelor of Laws’ (2020, Cum Laude) and ‘Master of Laws’ (2022, Summa Cum Laude) from Ghent University. He also studied at the University of Bergen (Norway) as part of an Erasmus exchange.
During his law studies, Jarne participated in the university-wide Honours Programme 'Quetelet Lectures’. In addition, he participated in the prestigious European Law Moot Court (ELMC) and, together with his team, managed to win the ELMC competition. This also earned him the ‘Award for the Best Pleader', awarded by the Ghent Bar Association. Finally, his master's thesis was also recognised by the APR Prize for the best legal treatise of Ghent University of the 2021-2022 academic year.
