Merijn Chamon

Merijn Chamon is a Doctor of Laws and a voluntary collaborator at the Ghent European Law Institute. He is Professor of EU Law at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel and Visiting Professor at the College of Europe (Bruges). Previously, he was assistant professor, and subsequently associate professor, at Maastricht University (2019-2023) and a postdoctoral researcher of the Fonds Wetenschappelijk Onderzoek (FWO) Vlaanderen (2017-2019). His doctoral thesis, which he wrote as an academic assistant attached to the Ghent European Law Institute, dealt with the topic of EU agencies and was defended in 2015. The book version of the thesis was published by Oxford University Press in 2016.

Merijn's research area covers the constitutional and institutional law (both internal and external relations) of the Union. In terms of substantive law, various areas of the internal market are also among his interests.
