Biography

Brecht De Schutter works as lawyer since 2006. After working for more than 10 years in law firms specialized in migration law at the Brussels bar, he started his own law firm ‘Hermes Advocaten’ in Mechelen in 2017, where he is still working in the field of asylum and migration until today.

He is a corrector migration law at the Office of Juridical Aid of the Bar of Antwerp and is also active in several civil society organizations defending the rights of migrants.

Next to his diploma of Master in Laws, he has a LLM in Human Rights (2010, Facultés Universitaires Saint-Louis)

Since 2021 he is a teaching assistant in the migration law clinic at UGhent.
