Short Bio

Piet Taelman is Senior Full Professor at Ghent University Law School (Belgium). He teaches several courses on Civil Procedure and has written on a wide variety of civil procedure topics – including several forms of alternative dispute resolution – in books, national and international journals and book chapters. He was editor of the Civil Procedure Monographs, within the International Encyclopaedia of Laws (1998-2020).

He is a member of the High Council of Justice (2016-2020 and 2020-2024), an honorary member of the Council of the International Association for Procedural Law (2007-2019). He is member of the Executive Committee of Cepani (Belgian Centre for Arbitration and Mediation) since nearly two decades.
