Short Bio

Tom Wijnant is accredited as a mediator and is a voluntary post-doctoral fellow at Ghent University. He teaches in the post-academic mediation training, offered jointly by Ghent University and the University of Antwerp. In the past, Tom has worked as an academic assistant in Ghent and has been a Visiting Researcher at Harvard Law School. He is now active as a legal advisor in the financial sector.

Tom obtained his Master of Laws degree in 2014 with great distinction and obtained his PhD in 2021, both at Ghent University. In his PhD research, Tom has researched a wide spectrum of possible ways on how to improve mediation law and practice in Belgium, with a strong focus on the facilitative roles of lawyers.
