 Johan Erauw is Emeritus Professor of the University of Ghent (from October 2014).

Guest Professor of International Law (since October 2014), teaching at the Ghent Law School (Fall term) the courseInternational Business Transactions”, an English-language Postgraduate Course in LLM (postgraduate level) - 30 hours.


Presently providing expert counsel to lawyers and notaries as well as public authorities on the subjects of Private International and Commercial Law, specializing in international business transactions - notably international sales agreements, art law, technology transfer, intellectual property law, international dispute resolution (by negotiation, proceedings before state courts  and commercial arbitration).

 

Arbitrator in International Commercial Arbitration: practitioner in commercial arbitration before several institutions and on ad-hoc-basis: I.C.C.-Paris; and CEPANI Brussels, The Arbitration Court of the Stockholm Chamber of Commerce (SCC) and Netherlands Arbitration Institute (NAI). Also a listed arbitrator of CIETAC (Beijing), of the Beijing Arbitration Commission (BAC) and of the Shanghai International Arbitration Center (SHIAC); the Arbitration Center of the Shanghai Chamber of Commerce, of the South China International Economic and Trade Arbitration Commission (Shenzen Court); of the Arbitration Centre and of the Croatian Chamber of Commerce (Zagreb) and of the Ukrainian Chamber of Commerce Arbitration Commission (see the summing-up of former professional experience, below).

 

Member of the Board of Trustees (2005 – present) of the Belgian Centre for Arbitration and Mediation (Cepani), Brussels.

Founding Member of the “Private International Law Group” of Belgian professors of law.

 Advisor to the Flemish Ministry of Culture for international legal aspects of the return of stolen artwork.
