The main research aim was to establish how existing legal rules, including human rights, apply to news recommendation practices and whether they require further regulation. The research formed part of the interdisciplinary research project #NewsDNA, which was funded by the Special Research Fund of Ghent University. Its primary goal was to develop and test an algorithm that uses news diversity as a key driver for personalised news recommendation.
