Michiel Fierens

Short Bio

Michiel holds a Master in Law from the University of KU Leuven and a Master in Intellectual Property and IT Law from the KU Leuven.

He currently works on a joint PhD (KU Leuven - Ghent University) on 'In search of a (new) balance between data sharing and data protection in light of semantic interoperability’. He is based at CiTiP (KU Leuven).

Prior to joining CiTiP, Michiel worked as a legal counsel at KU Leuven Research & Development (LRD), supporting companies and researchers of the KU Leuven Association who want to engage in a research collaboration by offering customized advice throughout the entire collaboration process.

Michiel also previously worked for a year as a researcher at CiTiP in the area of (cyber)security & artificial intelligence.
