Short Bio
Karen Broeckx is a part-time professor at the Faculty of Law and Criminology at Ghent University. She is co-lecturer in the courses in in-depth civil procedural law and civil procedural law for the notarial profession in the master's and notary's degree programmes, respectively, and also teaches the course deontology of the legal professions.
She has many publications to her name in the field of civil procedural law, in particular in the field of attachment and enforcement law, and is regularly invited as a speaker at study days and training courses.
She combined her part-time appointment, which started in October 1995, first with the legal profession, which she joined in September 1986, and since January 2000 with the position of judge at the court of first instance in Ghent, in particular attachment judge. Since January 2007 to date, she has been a counselor at the Court of Appeal in Ghent, where she hears various enforcement disputes on appeal.
She is a member of the Dutch-speaking appointment committee for bailiffs
