Multi-parameter assessment physiological function in spheroids, bioprinted microtissues and in vivo
About this line of research
Bioprinting and the use of numerous biomaterials require the development of online and continuous monitoring tools, reporting on cell health, death, and differentiation and thus predicting the overall quality, reproducibility and long-term stability of bio fabricated tissues. Currently, we focus on optimising multi-parameter O2 and T (temperature) imaging in bioprinted constructs, organoids and differentiating homo- and heterocellular spheroids.
We employ multiplexing in spectral and luminescence lifetime domains and aim at expanding the biosensor probes toolkit, e.g. by utilising staining of the cells, use of genetically encoded proteins, functional autofluorescence, labelling of extracellular matrix components and introduction of advanced nanoparticle sensors.
Here we also collaborate with research groups who design and model microfluidic chips, and microscopes as well as develop innovative biomaterials and biosensors, including materials for two- and three-photon excitation modes (FLIMagin3D consortium).
