Grants for internship in the USA via The Washington Center

The Washington Center is an independent, non-profit organization that provides a diverse selection of internship programmes and seminars to students of Flemish universities and higher education institutions.
The Flemish Department of Education and Training provides grants for Flemish students who want to do an internship in Washington, at an international organization or company,  during one semester in the academic year 2024-2025.

The grant amounts up to € 9.000 per student. Students of underrepresented groups be awarded an amount of € 12.000. The exact amount of the mobility grant for academic year 2024-2025 has not yet been finalized. Note that the grant does not cover all expenses. The grant amount will be transferred to the Washington Center directly.
This call is launched separately from the call for candidates for exchange outside the Erasmus zone, as announced in Mobility outside Europe.

Eligibility criteria

  • You are enrolled at a Flemish university or higher education institution and you have obtained minimum 60 credits at the moment of application.
  • The mobility is for internship only and lasts one semester.

Application and selection

  • Deadline for application at your Faculty Committee for Internationalisation: Monday 11 March, 2024 at 11.59h.
  • If your faculty approves your application, you will receive an email with further instructions concerning  the online application process.
  • Ghent University is allowed to nominate 6 candidates; in case more students have applied an internal selection we be held
  • The Flemish government will do the final selection. If you are selected, you will be informed in May by the International Relations Office of Ghent University.
