Online lessons and lesson recordings
Teachers can provide online lessons and lesson recordings via Panopto. As a student you can also use this video platform to record videos for assignments. Panopto contains useful functionalities that allow you to revisit a specific part of the lesson, or to link your notes during the lesson to your teacher's explanation.
Lesson recordings
- Each teacher decides within the characteristics of the course whether to provide lesson recordings.
- If lesson recordings are available for a course, you can find them in the Ufora site of that course (under 'Other tools' > 'Panopto').
- Research shows that lesson recordings especially have a positive influence on students' learning process when this is combined with participation in live lessons. (Nordmann et al, 2018 and Edwards et al, 2019, Williams et al, 2012 and Wieling & Hofman, 2010.). Lesson recordings are therefore useful material for processing the content of a course, provided you use them wisely.
- You are not allowed to record lessons yourself via sound and/or image.
- As a student, if you prefer not be in the recording, you can choose a place outside of the screen.
-
Are you a student with a special status because of a disability? Then in some situations it is possible to obtain the 'access to lesson recordings' facility. You can only use this facility for lectures, and therefore not for practice sessions or lessons where a high degree of interaction is expected, so the facility does not affect the achievement of the final competencies. If you think you qualify for a special status, you can contact the Office student & disability.
- Recordings are made via the video platform Panopto. You can read more about its use on the page.
Chat GPT
There is no escaping nowadays: the past few months generative AI tools in general, and ChatGPT in particular have been dominating the public debate within and without our university walls. Needless to say that systems such as these have an unmistakable impact on education. But what is ChatGPT, really? What is it capable of, and what not? What are the dangers of using it? And what would your lecturers think if you were to use it?
