Summary

The InnCoCells project aims to pioneer advanced and eco-friendly methods for producing cosmetic ingredients sourced from underutilized plant resources.

Leveraging cutting-edge techniques like cell cultures, aeroponics, and greenhouse/field cultivation, we will optimize these resources for both profitability and sustainability towards high yields of bioactive compounds. Through pilot-scale production and subsequent extraction/purification processes, we will showcase the viability of at least ten cosmetic ingredients.

Additionally, by using a cascade biorefinery model, we guarantee that byproducts and biowaste are efficiently utilized to extract further bioactive molecules, maximizing resource efficiency. To further ensure economic viability and minimize environmental impact, techno-economic assessment and life cycle analysis will be performed on the proposed processes.

Safety and efficacy of the ingredients will be rigorously evaluated using innovative enzyme-based and cell-based assays, eliminating the need for animal testing.
