Kurt Houf Group
Kurt Houf is a member of the Department of Veterinary and Biosciences at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine. Because of many research synergies he is also affiliated with the Laboratory of Microbiology and both groups share laboratory and office facilities at Campus Ledeganck.
Research topics
Basic and applied aspect of food microbiology and food safety with a focus on:
- foodborne bacterial pathogens (detection, identification, characterization, genomics, ...)
- (molecular) epidemiology and diversity of Arcobacter and Campylobacter species
- food and environmental microbiomes
- occurrence and role of free-living protozoa in food safety
