Biography:

Dr. Tomáš Sedlačík is a postdoctoral researcher in the Supramolecular Chemistry group since 2020. He obtained his Ph.D. in 2015 from the University of Chemical Technology in Prague, Czech Republic. His Ph.D. thesis focused on the cyogelation of poly(alpha-amino acids) for engineering applications, and was realized at the Institute of Macromolecular Chemistry at the Czech Academy of Sciences under supervision of Dr. Frantisek Rypacek. He conducted a postdoctoral research with Prof. Jian Ping Gong in Japan (Laboratory of Soft and Wet Matter at Hokkaido University in Sapporo), where he developed a technique for the preparation of super-macroporous double-network hydrogels with high material toughness. His entire work focused on the development of scaffolds for tissue regeneration, such as cartilage or brain, and for the transplantation of pancreatic islets to treat diabetes.

Research project:

His current work is focused on the development of tough poly(2-oxazoline) hydrogels and the development of concrete superplasticizers by means of RAFT polymerization techniques.
