Information about going abroad for students in the Master of Science in Nutrition and Rural Development
Information sessions
- An information session for your study program about an internship and your master dissertation topic will be organized at the beginning of the academic year

Internship abroad
- Internship is an elective course in the study program, you can choose to conduct it in Belgium or abroad
- The period to conduct your internship is during the summer holidays (July-September) between your 1st and 2nd year of study and/or during your second master year.
- You should take the initiative to look for a suitable internship host and topic
- When do submit your final proposal?
- After consultation with your internship coordinator, your promotor and the host
- If you want a mobility grant, the deadline to make an exchange application is 31 January
- Your final proposal has to be submitted before the deadline of 31 January
- If you don't want a mobility grant, the deadline to make an exchange application is minimum 6 weeks before departure
- The deadline to submit your final proposal is 1 May
- Your proposal requires approval by the Education Committee

Master's dissertation abroad
- You can perform part of your work abroad (e.g. data collection, experiments or field work)
- The recommended period to go abroad is during the summer holidays (July-September) between your 1st and 2nd year of study or combined over the third and fourth semester
- You should have a promotor from Ghent University and your evaluation will take place at Ghent University
- When do submit your choice of dissertation?
- If you want a mobility grant, the deadline to make an exchange application is 31 January
- Submit the choice of your dissertation before 31 January via the online thesis application
- If you don't want a mobility grant, the deadline to make an exchange application is minimum 6 weeks before departure
- Submit the choice of your dissertation before 1 May via the online thesis application
- Your topic requires approval by the Education Committee
- Ghent University has a campus in Incheon (Republic of Korea), where you can undertake part of your dissertation and where free housing is available on campus

- From AY 2024-2025 it is possible to go on an exchange for courses

- You have to make an exchange application until 31 January
