Prof. Tijl De Bie

Introduction

Prof. Tijl De Bie leads the Artificial Intelligence and Data Analytics (AIDA) research group within the IDLab-ELIS. He earned his PhD in Machine Learning from KU Leuven in 2005 and has held positions at prestigious institutions such as UC Berkeley, UC Davis, the University of Southampton, and the University of Bristol before joining Ghent University in 2015. Prof. De Bie's research focuses on the foundations of machine learning and data science, with applications spanning bioinformatics, music informatics, online news media analysis, computational social sciences, and HR analytics. He has received several prestigious grants, including an ERC Consolidator Grant, an ERC Proof of Concept Grant, and an ERC Advanced Grant for his project VIGILIA, which aims to address the challenges of misinformation without resorting to censorship.
