Introduction
Prof. Dirk Van den Poel, member of the Data Analytics Research Group of Business Engineering at Ghent University's Faculty of Economics and Business Administration is specialized in Data Analytics, Big Data, and AI. His research interests include analytical Customer Relationship Management (CRM), ensemble classification methods, predictive and prescriptive analytics (optimization), big data analytics, and large language models (LLMs). He consistently ranks among the top researchers in these fields. Since 1999, he has successfully completed 200+ projects in the field of "Data Science for Business" for many international companies. He is actively involved with CVAMO, a core lab of Flanders Make (a strategic research center for the manufacturing industry). He collaborates on projects that leverage machine learning to optimize various industrial processes, including call center call forecasting, the use of LLMs for chatbots and automatic email answering, and enhancing the reliability of cyber-physical systems.
