About us
The Department of Civil Engineering is an integrated part of the Faculty of Engineering and Architecture at Ghent University, Belgium. It groups approximately 120 staff members, spread over 5 research units:
- Coastal Engineering, Bridges and Roads
- Geotechnics Laboratory
- Hydraulics Laboratory
- Ships and Marine Technology
- Mobility and Spatial Planning
Staff members provide education in a large number of courses. The department contributes to the curricula of the Bachelor in Architecture and Civil Engineering and of the Master in Architecture, Civil and Electromechanical Engineering, among others.
The current head of department is Prof. Peter Troch. The department council consists of all tenured academic staff and representatives of the assisting academic staff, scientific staff and administrative and technical staff.
