The ENCORE project: Energizing Coastal Regions with Offshore Renewable Energy
The Coastal Engineering Research Group of Ghent University is partner in the ENCORE project. The aim of the ENCORE project (Energizing Coastal Regions with Offshore Renewable Energy) is to advance five offshore renewable energy technologies (including wave energy convertors, tidal and river current turbines and offshore floating solar) in a structured and collaborative process and to develop open-source tools & services to facilitate the accelerated commercialisation of offshore energy solutions for islands, harbours, estuaries and offshore structures with a focus on 2SEAS region and export.
It is expected that the ENCORE project will result in bankable solutions, jobs, export opportunities, increased competitiveness and as such contribute to cleaner climate.
ENCORE is managed by MET-support on behalf of Dutch Marine Energy Centre and receives funding from the Interreg 2 Seas programme 2014-2020, co-funded by the European Regional Development Fund under subsidy contract No 2S08-004. Also the provinces of South and North Holland and Zeeland are offering financial support. Other partners are the European Marine Energy Centre, Bureau Veritas, Artelia, Deftiq, University of Ghent, Teamwork Technology, Oceans of Energy, EEL Energy, Inyanga Marine Projects, Water2energy.
