This public lecture will be moderated by Dr. Laura Luciani from the Ghent Centre for International and European Studies.

On October 17, 2023, the Prime Minister of Armenia addressed the European Parliament, stating, "Armenia is ready to be closer to the European Union, as much as the European Union considers it possible." This statement sparked public debate in Armenia.

In this lecture at Ghent University, the Armenian Ambassador Mr. Tigran Balayan will explore the evolving relationship between Armenia and the EU, with a focus on recent rapprochement efforts. The discussion will cover key developments, including ongoing negotiations for a new Partnership Priorities document that will build on the existing Comprehensive and Enhanced Partnership Agreement (CEPA). Additionally, the lecture will highlight the EU Council's historic decisions in July 2024, which initiated visa liberalization talks and EPF assistance, setting the stage for the future of Armenia-EU relations.

This event is free to attend, but registration is required.
