Book launch with Mary Ann Manahan and Tomas Vanacker.

Book launch and discussion: the geopolitics of green colonialism - global justice & ecosocial transitions.

The time for denial is over. The Global North has answered the question of how to address the climate crisis with solutions like renewable energy, electric cars, carbon trading, and hydrogen. However, beneath this sustainability facade lies a stark reality: new environmental injustices and green colonialism.

The push for green growth and clean energy in the Global North depends heavily on the large-scale extraction of strategic minerals from the Global South. This geopolitically driven transition often sacrifices not only territories but also truly sustainable ways of inhabiting this world.

Join us as our speakers delve into the specifics of this new green colonialism and the alternatives being constructed by activists and policymakers in the Global South, especially in Asia, in coordination with allies in the Global North.
