Professor Freya Baetens from Oxford University opens the Francqui Chair with her lecture, "Is International Law ‘Real’ Law?".

Baetens is a Professor of Public International Law at the Faculty of Law and Research Director of the Oxford Human Rights Hub.

The lecture will be followed by a reception.

Established in 1933, the Francqui Chair is a cornerstone initiative of the Francqui Foundation. It promotes collaboration and exchanges between (primarily Belgian) universities, enriching academic environments, fostering excellence and interdisciplinary research, and enhancing the reputations of participating institutions. The inaugural lecture in this series is traditionally an opportunity to bring together leading figures from the relevant discipline.
