This activity has, as a primary objective, to exchange the latest views and developments on the topic between the research groups led by the invited, external experts and research groups at Ghent University (and, by extension, other interested groups). As a secondary objective it will bring researchers working in this broad area at Ghent University and beyond closer together and allow them a platform to present their work to a broader audience and receive constructive feedback. Overall, our aim is to generate innovative ideas and to trigger new collaborations.

The activity will start with a 45-minute lecture by external experts, highlighting the latest progress in their fields, followed by an interactive Q&A session. Following this, and after a short break, there will be an open discussion seminar. Here, participating PhD scholars will have the opportunity to pitch their own research.
