Contact Point 'Versterkpunt'
Regularly, obstacles stand in the way of students and staff members with disabilities. Consider, for example, a delivery blocking the wheelchair-accessible entrance or a car parked on pathways meant for people with visual impairments.
This needs to change, and we need everyone's help to make it happen. For instance, don't park your bike on the sidewalk if it makes the passage too narrow for a wheelchair. Or move a cart aside if you see it blocking a wheelchair-accessible lift.
Ghent University cares about students and staff with disabilities. Do obstacles still arise? Recently, you can turn to the Empowerment Contact Point for help. Because we aim to empower, not restrict. Are you a student or staff member with a disability and encounter a sudden problem? Take a photo of the obstacle and send an email with the photo and a description of the issue to versterkpunt@ugent.be, and we will try to send someone your way as soon as possible.
