Flemish funding for international collaboration
From Ghent University
The international thematic networks are cooperative networks consisting of Ghent University staff members and international partners concerning a specific topic of excellence in education and research.
Ghent University encourages mobility amongst researchers. Therefore, every faculty of Ghent University has a specific Mobility and Sabbatical Fund to support incoming and outgoing mobility. The faculties have each developed a faculty regulation in which the financing possibilities of the Faculty Mobility and Sabbatical Fund are defined in detail.
From FWO
International mobility
The FWO promotes international mobility by giving researchers the opportunity to go abroad and gain experience in international research groups, or by attracting researchers from abroad.
International collaboration
The FWO is keen on promoting international collaboration as a driving force for excellence. That is why the FWO:
- signs agreements with a number of countries for the funding of potential exchange projects
- offers researchers in Flanders various opportunities for intra-European collaboration linked to Weave or the European Framework Programme
- signs bilateral agreements with a number of extra-European countries for the funding of joint research projects.
International contacts
The FWO supports:
- coordination activities of international collaborative associations;
- the organisation of scientific conferences where the international and inter-university dimension is a central element of the programme;
- researchers with the coordination of Scientific Research Networks.
From VLAIO
In order to promote cooperation and coordination between the various research and innovation programmes of the EU member states and associated countries, the European Commission has a number of networks within H2020 that contribute to the realisation of the European Research Area (ERA).
Thanks to the participation of Flanders Innovation & Entrepreneurship in these international networks, Flemish project partners can also gain direct subsidies from Flanders for their international collaboration related to innovation and R&D. The agency engages its existing support programmes to realise funding of Flemish partners within these networks.
