Federal Public Service (FPS) Health, Food Chain Safety and Environment
The department of Contractual Research relating to food safety and animal and plant health policy offers the scientific world three possibilities to obtain a grant for scientific research on food safety, animal and plant health policy and animal welfare in the course of the year 2024: RT (Thematic Research) projects, RF (Free Research) projects and RI (Transnational Research) projects.
Procedure Thematic research call: RT projects
The thematic call concerns the call for proposals based on targeted research themes established by the Minister responsible, to which the scientific community can subscribe through the submission of project proposals. Project proposals are evaluated and selected in two stages on the basis of a letter of intent and a fully elaborated and detailed project proposal. To submit a proposal, please use the appropriate form.
Deadline for submitting the RT Letter of Intent is Thurday 20 April 2023 at noon.
Deadline for submitting the RT Full-proposal is Friday 22 September 2023 at noon.
Procedure Free research call: RF projects
Within the free call, research proposals can be submitted where the topic is determined by the researchers themselves. The evaluation is done in two stages based on a letter of intent and fully developed and detailed project proposals.
Deadline for submitting the RF Letter of Intent is Thurday 20 April 2023 at noon.
Deadline for submitting the RF Full-proposal is Friday 22 September 2023 at noon.
Procedure Transnational research call: RI projects
The international call for project proposals focuses on international research themes within plant health. These themes are selected by the Euphresco network.
More information about the network can be found on the website of Eurphesco.
The Minister responsible selected four priority themes selected from the list identified by the Euphresco network. (Themes will be published on the FPS website in March)
The selection of project proposals proceeds identically to the RF projects, in two phases. However, the evaluation of the second phase is managed by the Euphresco Secretariat.
The FPS Public Health is providing a maximum of 300,000 € for this call.

Deadline for submitting the RI Full-proposal is Friday 22 September 2023 at noon.

Attention when calculating the personnel budget: the extra-legal pension is not covered by the FPS since the FPS considers this an extra-legal benefit. This cost is borne by the budget holder.
