Job description
As a PhD Researcher in our team, you will play a crucial role in developing and advancing new materials for biomedical applications. Your tasks will include:
1. Synthesis and Characterization of Novel Photo-Crosslinkable Polyesters
- o Design and develop new photo-crosslinkable polyesters with tailored properties.
- o Characterize the synthesized polymers using advanced techniques such as NMR, FTIR, GPC, DSC, and TGA.
2. Processing of Polyesters into Membranes and 3D Constructs
- o Fabricate polymer membranes and complex 3D structures using state-of-the-art light-based 3D-printing technologies (e.g., stereolithography, digital light processing).
3. Characterization of Membranes and 3D-Printed Constructs
- o Evaluate mechanical, thermal, and biological properties of the fabricated membranes and constructs.
- o Optimize processing parameters to ensure the functionality of 3D-printed materials for biomedical use.
4. Project Management and Reporting
- o Follow up on the project progress, meeting set goals and deadlines.
- o Prepare technical reports and presentations for internal and external stakeholders.
5. Scientific Dissemination
- o Attend and present your research at national and international scientific meetings and conferences.
- o Publish your findings in high-impact peer-reviewed scientific journals.
- o Write a PhD thesis to obtain the degree of PhD in Sciences: Chemistry by the end of the 4-year period.
Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in Chemistry, Polymer Science, or a related field.
- Solid knowledge of polymer synthesis and characterization techniques.
- Interest in light-based 3D-printing technologies and their applications.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a passion for interdisciplinary research.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills (English proficiency required).
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team.
Job profile
- You hold a Master’s degree (preferably) in Chemistry or related field.
- You have a strong interest in polymer chemistry, polymer processing and biomedical applications
- You are motivated to explore cutting-edge 3D-printing technologies
- You hold excellent research and teamwork skills
WHAT WE CAN OFFER YOU
- We offer a full-time position as a doctoral fellow, consisting of an initial period of 12 months, which - after a positive evaluation, will be extended to a total maximum of 48 months.
- Your contract will start on December 1, 2024 at the earliest.
- The fellowship amount is 100% of the net salary of an AAP member in equal family circumstances. The individual fellowship amount is determined by the Department of Personnel and Organization based on family status and seniority. A grant that meets the conditions and criteria of the regulations for doctoral fellowships is considered free of personal income tax. Click here for more information about our salary scales
