Fast Grants for COVID-19 research
As from 7 April 2020, any PI at a University of any country can apply for a Fast Grant between 10.000 and 500.000 USD. Decisions are made in under 48 hours. If the grant is approved, you will receive payment as quickly as your university can receive it.
As only 15% overhead is allowed, please inform our EU-office about your application (contact: EU-cel@UGent.be).
Fast Grants is an initiative from the George Mason University in the USA and Emergent Ventures.

Use of the Flemish Supercomputer
FWO has launched a special project call for requesting compute resources on the VSC HPC infrastructure (Tier-1 or Tier-2) for research related to the COVID-19 epidemic.

Funding for research on relation between COVID-19 and Cancer
Funder: Kom op tegen kanker
Scope: biomedical research on urgent scientific questions on the interaction between COVID-19 and cancer.
Budget: maximum of €50.000 for 6 months projects

European Research Area (ERA) Corona Platform
On 26 March 2020, the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen and the President of the European Council, Charles Michel stated that “Europe stands ready to set up an international online pledging event to ensure adequate funding to develop and deploy a vaccine against COVID-19."
The purpose of this first ERAvsCorona Action Plan is to identify first priority R&I work streams for coordinated action between the Commission services and the Member States taking action against the Corona virus that can be executed in the next weeks.
