Prof. Dries Benoit

Introduction

Prof. Dries Benoit is a Professor of Data Analytics within the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration. He earned his PhD in Applied Economics (Data Analytics) from Ghent University in 2011. He also serves as a visiting professor at the University of Namur.

His research specializes in Data Science and Analytics with an emphasis on Bayesian approaches. He has worked on various methodological and applied problems in business administration, including customer relationship management, credit scoring, pricing and manufacturing. He has made significant contributions to Bayesian quantile regression and Bayesian robustness.

Prof. Benoit is involved with Flanders Make as the core lab manager of the CVAMO lab at Ghent University. Flanders Make is a strategic research center supporting the manufacturing industry by developing and optimizing products and production processes through high-tech research. His work within Flanders Make includes applying AI techniques for industrial optimization, anomaly detection, and adaptive process control, contributing to advancements in smart manufacturing.
