WELCOME @ FACULTY OF SCIENCES

DEGREE STUDENT - EXCHANGE STUDENT
Degree students: study at Ghent University with the intention to obtain a degree awarded by Ghent University.
Exchange students: remain enrolled at their home university and spend a study period at Ghent University within the framework of their study at their home university, for example Erasmus.

Academic year

The academic year is divided into 2 semesters. This means that a part of the courses of a study programme is completed by the end of December, followed by examinations. This way the first examination period is spread over 2 months, January and June. Examinations for full-year course units take place in June. At the end of August / beginning of September a second examination period is organised. Students can use this period to retake (failed) courses from the first as well as the second semester.
