Education

Students frequently use the collections and infrastructure of the Botanical Garden.

Students Association UGent

The Botanical Garden is a major source of live study material for students in biology, biochemistry, biotechnology, geology, geography and related sciences. Educational collections are used extensively both for demonstrations and for dissections. The systematic sections, for their part, are a ‘tangible’ guide for self tuition. Last but not least, biology students regularly draw from the collections for their autonomous practical session.

Students working on educational and research projects are welcome to use also the garden’s infrastructure (greenhouses, pond).

Trainee posts

The Botanical Garden offers a truly enriching work experience for secundary school pupils and higher education students alike. A team of professional gardeners will guide you throughout your traineeship. This is the chance of a lifetime to enhance your knowledge and understanding of plants of all kinds.

Schools

The perfect educational outing for primary and secundary school classes: a guided tour of the Botanical Garden. Specially trained guides ensure live interaction with the world of plants.

Tours for junior pupils include a tasting session of fruits and other plant products! How much it costs: 30 euro for a class of up to 25 pupils.

Art school students are very welcome to seek inspiration, paint, draw... in the garden and the public greenhouses.
