Master dissertation
Modalities
The Faculty of Engineering and Architecture has changed the assessment of the master's dissertation: there are new evaluation forms, assessment rubrics and the master's thesis defence also has some modifications.
This new assessment will take effect from the start of the academic year 2024-2025. All master's dissertations submitted from then on will be assessed via the evaluation forms found at the bottom of this page.

Confidentiality
(1) If the student carries out the master's thesis in a research lab or within a UGent research project, the faculty confidentiality declaration is signed by supervisors, promoters and jury members.
(2) If the student is conducting the master's thesis in an external company, the master's thesis contract (see above, under 'Modalities') is sufficient in most cases.
(3) In other cases where the student is involved in a research project, or where you want to ensure confidentiality, the 'unilateral declaration of confidentiality and assignment of rights' can be used. This declaration can also be used outside the master's thesis, e.g. in the context of labs, assignments, tasks, practicals.
