Preparation of your stay abroad

  • Register your stay abroad in Oasis. Exchange applications in the system are evaluated on a regular basis, based on the latest available safety information. Moreover, it gives the university the chance to see who is where at what time, so that we can contact you in case of emergencies or changing safety information..
  • Check the travel advice of the Foreign Affairs Office (in Dutch).  When in doubt, you can contact for advice.

During your stay abroad

  • Register with the embassy or consulate of your home country.
  • Keep in contact with UGent.
  • Follow the safety advice and instructions of the local authorities closely.
  • Keep checking the travel advice of the Foreign Affairs Office regularly. When in doubt, you can contact for advice.

In case of accident or emergency

  • Emergencies :
    • Call the international emergency number 112.
    • Contact the university Security Department (available 24/7).
  • Crisis abroad: inform UGent you are OK by contacting .
  • Psychosocial welfare: contact the university Security Department (available 24/7).
  • Accident: contact the Legal Affairs Office and the International Student Support immediately.
  • Safety issues, loss or theft of identity papers: contact the embassy or consulate of your home country as soon as possible.
