GIfMI MRI Core Facility open for Science & Engineering researchers

(20-09-2024) The 3 Tesla research MRI facility Ghent Institute for functional and Metabolic Imaging GIfMI has been recognized as an UGent Core facility.

While traditionally associated with medical and biological research, GIfMI offers opportunities for engineering research and innovation as well. The facility provides, amongst others: state-of-the art 3T MRI with high-performance gradients, coils for all body parts, and the latest acquisition software. It provides open access to image reconstruction, image processing, MRI pulse sequence design, radio-frequency pulse design, hardware engineering, and MRI combined with physiological measurements. Application areas include (but not limited to): materials/tissue characterization, fluid dynamics, diffusion, electromagnetic property mapping, stiffness measurements etc.

GIfMI is committed to foster cross-disciplinary research. We encourage science & engineering researchers to collaborate with experts in psychology, biomedical sciences, and medicine to explore new frontiers in imaging applications. Freedom and opportunities to invent and explore are highly valued.

GIfMI is an Samenwerkingsverband voor Onderzoek (SVO) between the faculty of Engineering and Architecture, Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences and the Faculty of Psychology and Educational Sciences. GIfMI is located at campus UZ Gent, entrance 55. The operational team and methods development group is led by prof.dr.ir. Pim Pullens (IBITech/MEDISIP).
